Calcium chloride is an inorganic compound widely used in desiccators, catalysis, and thermal storage applications. It has the following properties:
- Higher thermal conductivity
- Chemical and thermal stability
- Non-toxic and less corrosive
Application
Calcium chloride can be used:
- As electrolyte in the reduction of solid zirconium dioxide by electro-deoxidation.
- A raw material to prepare composite adsorbent(activated carbon/silica gel/CaCl2) for cooling and dehumidification system.
- As a catalyst to synthesize tetrahydropyranyl ethers via tetrahydropyranylation of alcohols and phenols.
